The
Georgetown Landing Marina
is located just a few minutes by boat from the Georgetown city's waterfront
on the Sampit River. It is located on US Highway 17 on the north
side of Georgetown. The marina is full service. Accommodations are
available at local bed and breakfasts (Harbor House BB or the Shaw House
BB) as well as the Hampton Inn which is located adjacent to the marina.
Lands End Restaurant is adjacent to the marina. Entrees include delicious
seafood dinners, fantastic crab cakes, steaks, salads, and more.
Along the waterfront,
Georgetown has a public beach located within the Georgetown City's Recreation
Center located off of Bay Street. An open enclosure is available for the
"no so sun lovers". Great for outdoor grilling for picnics.
The waters of the Great Pee Dee River, the Black River, and the Waccamaw
River flow into the Winyah Bay adjacent to Georgetown. Georgetown, itself,
lies on the Sampit River. Lying among these waters are historic plantations
dating back to the abundant rice culture around Georgetown. Among
them, Mansfield Plantation as well as others.
Located on the waterfront on Georgetown's Front Street are an array of excellent restaurants including the River Room, Rice Paddy, Dogwood Cafe, Thomas's Cafe, Brown Pelican, Revolve, and the Big Tuna. Shopping galore: from antiques, artists and artisans, gift shops, art and framing, to other unique shops including Bienvenue are available for the avid shopper. History abounds.
